18 Affirmations For Birth: The Badass Mindset That Powered My Labor.

The body is made to birth the child it grows.

I created affirmations that contributed to my determination and unfuckwithableness through labor and birth. These words helped to fortify me and empower my mind to remind my body the truth.

At 4am in the depths of my labor, my doula said,

“If I could bottle your mindset I’d be a millionaire.”

From the labor pool I looked up and corrected her,

“You’d be a billionaire.”

21 hour vaginal unmedicated hospital delivery with no tears.

And, I took my placenta home in a cooler.

The way I labored and birthed my darling daughter was epic. I trained for labor like it was the most important physical event of my life. I trained my body and my mind.

For my mind, I created affirmations. I meditated with them often. I made sticky notes and planned to post them around the birthing room but that didn’t happen. Instead, I was fully present in my physical body and the whole time I had the gentle momentum of my mind that believed,

I trust my body and my baby.

This is pain with purpose.

I am built for this.

I am respected.

As I let go, I let go.

I let that which is going go and I let that which is coming come.

I am safe to surrender.

I am supported.

I can do anything for 60 seconds.

Repeating these words for weeks made them real. Especially, when I felt anxiety arise. This practice brought me ease but most importantly I crafted the memory, the felt sense of truth. The realness that I am capable of birthing my daughter. That I am created for this.

For a life to trust me as their mother and to bring them through into the world is the greatest honor of my life. These words helped to fortify me and empower my mind to remind my body the truth. The body is made to birth the child it grows.

If you are looking for more support, I create customized guided meditations for big life events. The meditation creates a profound sense of relaxation and safety in the body. This allows oxytocin to flow; an essential component of birthing a baby.

I would be honored to create one for you or someone you love.
