Fiber: The Body’s Mop

  • Better Digestion

  • Stress Regulation

  • Hormone Help

Why I eat fiber.

Fiber acts like a mop in our gut. The fiber goes into the gut and helps to remove excess hormones. I find this particularly helpful when I am stressed.

Here are ways I help my body assimilate fiber

  1. Cook it. I roast, sauté, steam…

  2. Chop it. I cut up my food.

  3. Chew it. I slow down and chew my food.

When I look around, I see people inhaling their food. Digestion does not start in our stomach. First we look at our food with our eyes, smell the food, then our salivary glands produce saliva and combined with chewing enzymes are created that start the process of breaking down the food. In order for our body to get the minerals and nourishment from the food it must be broken down.

    CHEW CHEW CHEW

For many years I was not able to eat raw fiber without stressing my gut aka I would get diarrhea.

After over a decade of lovingly tending to my gut, I am now able to eat raw vegetables.

It’s important to meet yourself where you are at.

If you are not used to eating a lot of fiber, I recommend avoiding lots of raw vegetables. Instead of a raw salad, try roasting the veggies instead.

Cook it

Chop it

& Chew it.
